In all seriousness this is a turn up for the books!
As the chimaera has been more sensibilly priced they have possibly sold more.
The lesser produced griff has generally been marketed too high imho and maybe sales have suffered as a result.
If you are selling your chim prices will become generally stronger and maybe they'll level out?
Not all bad speaking as a person who will be selling a chim soon!

I noticed this, it used to be a ratio of 3;1 a few years back. I think it is mainly down to the fact that Griffs are far too overpriced now thanks to the likes of Fernhurst etc, I mean a seventy grand Griff FFS! None of them seem to be selling because of this. If for insatnce I had £20-£25k odd knocking about to buy a car it wouldn't be a Griff', despite the fact I love 'em [I've had two] they are just not worth that sort of money.

Especially concerning those obscene prices Mac

With Mac on this one. Way too much money for what they are, ( Those at 20-30k anyway ). Love my Griff but at the end of the day they are in reality a kit car. I often wonder how they sold so many from new at what 30K, 20yrs ago.Edited by macdeb on Friday 25th October 09:47
I know someone who bought one new in 1992. British racing green, tan interior, pre-cat. His previous car was a Morgan Plus 8 (which he still kept), he had just come into a lot of money from the business sale of his engineering company, yet he chose to buy a proper British muscle car when he could have afforded a Ferrari or Aston. And his wife drove it as often as he did.
He still had to manage the company during the 4 year earn-out, and the Griff got loving looks and appreciation (and we could hear him coming from a mile away from inside the factory). As an engineer and patriot, he appreciated the TVR values. He also didn't want his workforce thinking he was a rich tosser.....
From that day on I wanted one.....but got a better car instead when the time came.

In terms of shear numbers I read that the Chim 500 was made in much fewer numbers than the Griffith. It's the volume of 400 chims that makes the chim much more common. As a 500 owner I'm obviously hopoing that the market catches on to this fact!
