I have been the proud owner of my 95 4.0 Chimaera now for 7 years. I am not minted so I bought a slightly neglected example as it was the only way I could afford my dream car. The intention was to restore the car over several years.

Those several years have passed and the car is now literally mint. From new interior, outriggers, suspension, camshaft, steering rack, you name it the car has had it done. I had the final piece of the jigsaw completed last month for my 40th birthday, a full respray.

I have been sitting looking at it now for several days thinking there is nothing left to do. I need a new project.

I could never afford a Sagaris etc. but I do feel the need for more power. I don't want to go down the turbo/supercharger route as I simply cannot afford a lump sum outlay. I could afford some finance so the only route seems to be part-ex etc against a Cerbera. If I do that then I know I will end up with another project and a lot of debt.

So, the question stands...would I be mad?..have any of you been down this route and regretted it?

You have to run it for a year before you make your mind up
But if you have to have a project get a mini very little cost and a good return
On your work

That's my 2p

Thanks, I still have the desire it drive it, no problem there. I don't fancy anything next apart from a TVR. I have looked at a lot of alternatives but no, its definitely got to be a TVR.....

Be very, very cautious before you sell and be sure you'll never ever want the same model again. Why? Because if you do decide to sell you'll never find another as good as yours given the work you've done. I know, been there done that with my 390SE, 450SE and first Griff 500!

Know the feeling well. Finished my Spitfire (Triumph not Supermarine sadly) and sold it after a few months because I missed a project. As suggested before a cheap project as well as the TVR could be the answer if you have the room. Unfinished lotus 7 style kit car for less than 1k, bike engine etc when time / funds allow...

can't you get the turbo kit on credit card? loads of them have huge interest free periods so pay for it over time? You will regret selling and probably won't get back anywhere near the amount you've put in frown

Generally ok to sell a TVR so long as you are replacing it with another wink

I think the Cerb idea is good, so long as won't miss the open top. Something like this maybe would be a more than sufficient power upgrade - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

Given the condition of your car, you may have even some cash left at the end.

Unfortunately no room for a second car. The value of mine is unfortunately not that good as its just turned 100k (not that this should matter but for some reason it puts a lot of people off).

If I do sell I think part-ex/swap might be the only route at the moment.

The gist seems to be that people have generally regretted it!!

You should be proud of that, very nice. Drive it and get your just rewards that way if mileage keeps the value down. Call it a shakedown year.

I couldn't sell mine for a Cerb as I love having the roof off too much. I think Chims are very underpriced and you can't get anything else to match them for the same budget

Brett84 said stuff..

Agree with that, best all-round package going. Soft top, noise, torque, looks, practical, simple, parts backup etc.

It's a small world. Yes it was. The interweb holds no secrets I see!!
