I only noticed yesterday that the wiper stalk has a flick setting on it same as for the light stalk for using main beam.

Does it do anything? I have done a PH search on this topic and about the only thing possibly related is it was for rear windowconfused.

If it's not doing anything then do I presume it does't matter which position it's left in.

It's the rear screen wiper. (For the original Vauxhall fitment that is biggrin)

I believe many people rewire this and use it as a fan overide switch

It is indeed the rear wash/wipe for the 1988-1995 Cavalier from which it was sourced. My car came without this from the factory - the Cavalier saloon had a different switch with no rear wash/wipe - but I know a lot of cars came with it.

I did this a few years ago and did a write-up of it.
