I did my Chimaera with Zaino at the weekend, and I am seriously impressed. For those of you who haven't heard of it (and you won't find it in Halfrods) its an American product, now imported by this lot

The main Zaino site www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc is so obsessive about their products that they even tell you what brand of towels to buy to rub off the polish! It came top in an independent test of 46 waxes where I think Mequires and Mothers were about top ten or so.
Anyway, the process, very much abbreviated is:
Wash car with washing up liquid to remove the old wax
Rub with the clay bar they supply (more like a large yellow piece of bluetac in consistency)
Wash again with Zaino car wash, rinse and dry
Mix an ounce of polish with 5 drops of special activator, shake, leave a few mins, then start polishing, which is easy to apply. The first polish is one to help camoflage small swirl marks.
Wait 30 mins and rub off
Spray with their Gloss Enhancer spray and wipe off.
Repeat the polishing stage with the other polish supplied, which is for clear coated finishes in my case. As per the first time, wait 30 mins, rub off, Gloss Enhancer, and stand back in awe ....
It is the smoothest, deepest, glossiest shine ever, and its supposed to outlast anything else as well. We will see, but today the rain just fell off and my car was dry by the time I got to work (8 miles at a max of 40 mph)
Impressed so far. £100 and rather a lot of work, but a most pleasing result. And I reckon at twice a year I have 4 years supply, so the price could be worse.

Sorry beano, don't think I can stand the arm-ache. £100 gets you everything. Maybe I will revive this thread every couple of months to tell you how it is lasting. In my experience, Autoglym etc lasts about 2-3 mths maximum, so if this does better and looks better (which it already does), I will be happy.
Ive recently used Meguires and I am very pleased with result, I have also used the usual suspects like Autoglym, Mer and others but Meguires outperforms all these by a long way. Its the new nxt wax and polish £14.99, I was so impressed i bought the car wash which is also the dogs danglies, when it dries it doesn't leave white spots due to its built in softner i now it sounds like a sales gimmick but it works!
I am sure it must be worth it, but it sounds like an awful lot of work to me.
Whilst I know for a fact that Autoglym is not as good as it used to be, I would still say it is pretty good. If you consider the time and money spent you could just use something like Autoglym more frequently.
The best product Autoglym do is their shampoo, it tops up the polish, never needed to polish more than twice a year.

Well you might be right, but speaking personally, I have spent years polishing cars with the latest and most wonderful concoctions from A to Z, getting a lovely finish, and then finding it just doesn't last very well. This stuff needs to go on a bit longer to justify the effort, but early signs are good.
Yes, just a wash. You are right that the first photo looks more impressive (the morning after I polished it) but I think maybe it was a different type of rain (?) Anyway, the dirt from many motorway miles came off easily and there is a good wax finish still in place. Watch for next month's installment.
