How to get power steering pump off?!
Discussion
I'm really struggling here and losing my patience!
I want to change my worn out power steering hoses but I cannot get the bloody power steering pump off. I've undone two of the bolts, the one at the bottom and the near side bolt, but I can't get the last bolt out. The one by the distributor off.
Any tips?
I can't get a socket in there, and I can't get enough of a spanner on there either. In any case, if I could get a spanner on it, I wouldn't be able to turn it. Am I missing something? This is really starting to hold me up now.

Remove the pulley 3 x 11mm headed bolts from memory this will give you access
undo these before you remove the serp belt though
Hmm, I tried removing the pulley but the bolts are done up ridiculously tight. Can't budge them. I removed the waterpump with ease but struggling with the PS pump.

Just as a matter of interest why are you removing the pump to fit new hoses. There is no need to do this as the hoses are fairly easily accessible once the pulley is removed.
However, if you do want to remove the pump the easiest way is to lock the spindle against rotation by putting a 3/8th allen key in the centre of the spindle. You can just about see in this pic. where the key fits.

You can then more easily remove the three 10mm bolts from the pulley.
There is more access to the o/s pump fixing bolt if the distributor cap is removed first...or if you're feeling brave remove the whole distributor (mark position of rotor arm and scribe a line across distributor and it's mounting base so it won't need re-timing afterwards).
Good luck, it's a bit of a fiddle I agree.

I was trying to get the pulley off, but couldn't seem to budge 2 out of the 3 bolts. They seem to be done up incredibly tight. The water pump pulley was no problem, but these bolts must have been tightened by the hulk. I even managed to lock the pulley against the mounting platform for the water tower pot with a socket extension against one of the bolts, and it bent the square plate!! I'll try the allen key trick and see if that helps.
