I have set mine at 10 clicks rear and 12 clicks front from soft and seems to be about right, I still have my fillings although the ride is firm and my ride heights are 155mm rear and 135mm front, from the outriggers but this is a basic setting that will change when its corner weighted.
If the ride seems to hard or soft then adjust no more than 2 clicks at a time, as it change very quickly.
Hope this helps

Do you mean its all over the road after setting it up?. If so I'm sorry!. I never meant to advise you incorrectly, this is how mine is set up and feels very good.

Was it all over the place before you changed dampers, or only since the change?

I have recently changed to GGPs and found them great. However, I run mine softer than Jamie on the road. If you start from softest all around and go up about six clicks front and rear, two clicks at a time, when you bounce the corners it should have some bounce. At 6 front and 6 rear take it for a drive. Then try two more clicks. It sounds strange, but somewhere in the first ten clicks the suspension will suddenly go from soft to hard. In my opinion, on British roads you want it set just below that point, otherwise it will just feel really uncomfortable.

I started out with mine at 12 and 12, drove it up the local bypass, but someone had spilt a box matches and I was able to count all 176 of them. That's what it felt like. So we softened them off and found 7 front and 6 rear was just nice. By the way, in case you think I am some sort of wuss with a bad back, I have the fronts rock hard on the race track - 16 clicks up from soft. At that setting on a smooth race track you eliminate nearly all dive under braking and the car corners really flat, and doesn't launch you in the air on acceleration. I also experimented with hard rear settings on track, but found that the rear of the car hopped round tight corners, and after as bit of testing, took the rear setting right back down to 6.

On leaving the track I forgot to soften the front settings.......got about a mile and had to pull over and return them to 7 clicks, as the ride was truly appalling on the road with the front on 16.

That's enough about dampers. When you have the setting to your liking, then ask the question, how does the handling feel? If still bad, then:

1. Check your ride heights, as Jamie says
2. If you installed the GGPs yourself, make sure everything is ok.
3. Consider getting the car 4 wheel aligned.

When I first had my car I had exactly the same feeling as you - that it was horrible to drive and I couldn't predict where it was going, unlike the 250bhp saloon cars I had owned and driven fast before.

The best £100 (it was actually less than that) I have ever spent on the car was having it 4 wheel aligned and set up correctly. Simple as that. It transforms the car. Chilliman has just had his 360 bhp monster put on new Gaz dampers and 4 wheel aligned, and cannot believe how it has transformed the driveability of the car. And its the alignment that has made the difference. The dampers have helped - his were shot - but the alignment was the thing that made the difference.

Hope this helps.

PS, if your local sports car garage in France doesn't have the correct cast, camber and toe settings email me and I will get them for you. My TVR guy has already emailed them to a guy in Germany, so I know he is happy to help.
