Interior Light Bulb
Discussion
Hi, can someone confirm the size of the courtesy light bulb please.
I'm not with the car right now to check it, is it a C5W?
Also, has anyone used an LED bulb?
If so what did you think of the results, in theory an LED bulb should draw less amps but is an LED interior light actually ay brighter/better than a traditional incandescent bulb?
Thanks, Dave.

Yes, the wiring is back-to-front so an LED won't immediately work.
IIRC, there are three incoming wires: permanent 12V, 0V and a "switched" 0V that makes and breaks with the opening of the doors and the timer. The permanent 12V is supplied to the "wrong" side of the bulb, and the switch selects between the permanent ground and the "switched" ground for the other side of the bulb.
I've swapped two of the incoming spade connectors around (the 12V and the "switched" ground), which means it switches on and off with the opening of the doors but you can't have it on permanently because in that position the bulb gets the "switched" ground and the ground. One day I'll figure out a way of making it work properly, but for now I'm happy with the light working only in its automatic mode. If it ever stays on for some reason it'll take a lot longer to drain the battery due to the lower current draw of the LED.

And all for £1.45!!!!
It took over two weeks to get to me from Hong Kong and you have to ask yourself how they can send it all that way & still make a profit at £1.45???
It's a nice cheap little mod that makes a big difference to interior light.
Only took me 3 minutes to fit too

Even the current Ms Bassfiend - who went in the Chim for the first time last weekend - commented that there was no way in hell we'd be able to get up to anything on the way back home.

So, does that lot all fit behind the little translucent cover or does the new 'panel' gat stuck by the side of it somewhere?
Reckon you could get a load of them in the dog-tooth cut outs Dave
I think that sort of tinsel would look better on a Tuscmaera Pupp Reckon you could get a load of them in the dog-tooth cut outs Dave

Have a great Christmas
I just. bought an LED version of the courtesy light bulb to reduce the current draw as I havE bypassed the relay. This one is polarity ambivalent so it does work with the Chimaera courtesy light which is wired so the tip if the bulb contact is grounded and the body is 12V, so no modifications needed and is very bright.
