Strange clutch problem
Discussion
Ok beginning of this year the clutch didn't feel quite write so checked the fluid and it was low and looked like the original fluid it was that bad (so much for previous service history!) anyway bled it through with fresh fluid and all was ok again till the end of June when I did 1000 miles in a week around Cornwall this is when I started with some free play at the top of the pedal but could still select gears ok. I checked the level again and it was still at the top, so bled it again and all was well.
Now what I've found over the last few weeks is when its parked in the garage for a week, when I come to it again I have the free play back at the top of the pedal, if I then go for a drive after a few miles the pedal starts to come back, its not quite write there's still a very small amount of free play but it gets a lot better once the clutch has been pumped a few times during the first few miles.
The fluid level doesn't seem to be going down but I seem to be getting air in the system, any suggestions guys or is it just a case of change slave cylinder if that doesn't work change master cylinder????
Anybody had it before, or ideas for me please?

Hi mike
Think you answered your own questions bud, Its sounds like air is getting in to the system via the cylinder seals. so I'd start with slave cylinder as thats the easiest to change and if it's still the same do the master cylinder! even if u change both it's not gonna cost a fortune

Got my new slave cylinder from tvr power looks basically the same as the old AP one but when I screwed the pipe into the new one the nut bottoms out before its fully tight so it now has a slight drip, anybody had the same? I bought the power one as I couldn't be bothered messing about and just wanted a straight swap, I'll have to ring them tomorrow but wondered if anybody else had had the same to see if I could easily sort it today instead???
