brake upgrades

Can some kind soul give me some advice on our brake upgrade options please. We all know those weedy front brakes have no business being on a sports car, they look terrible and to be honest with a car with no abs and seems to want to kill you most the time I think brakes are definitely a worth while upgrade.
For astetic reasons I want the biggest drilled disks and calipers possible.
My questions. ..
The brake components must of come from another make and model, probably ford so if I looked for a disk and caliper deal for say a ford escort rs would they fit straight on or require slight modification?
Or maybe other manufacturers that use the likes of brembo calipers such as porsche can be fitted easily?
I dont want to pay lots of money for a tvr specific kit with 4 pot calipers when for pretty much same price you can buy huge 8 pot calipers with cross drilled and grooved vented disks but say they are a ford kit when actually they fit.

I have the money ready and waiting to buy a kit but I cant decide. I have even tried converting this conversation into shoes and handbags for the girlfriend to understand.... but no good.

I'd love to hear a response from the guys who do track days.

Personally, I think the brakes are fine for the car if the system is in good order. Admittedly I don't do track days.

I can only see downsides of increasing the size of the brake discs and callipers as that will increase unsprung weight.

Like I said, I'd like to hear the views of those that do TD's.

OP - what age is your car? Does it have the smaller 240mm brakes, rather than the 260mm?

Mine is a 1995 n reg. Also I forgot to mention that at the moment when you apply the brakes you get a nasty vibration judder. Feels like either something is loose or warped disks. Ive put off sorting it as I want to change to a bigger and better setup anyway

I have a '95, which came with the the tiny 230mm disks which were crap.

I got hold of some Ford 887/888 calipers (as fitted to later Cosworths and mk1 V6 Mondeos) and a pair of 283mm disks (RS500). I also upgraded all the hoses at the same time to braided. The whole conversion cost less than £130 and the improvement is massive for minimal outlay.

I thought It was a bit of a mattle up .. Adapter plates etc

I have the WMS brakes and now been on 2 years great brakes go for them and you will not be disappointed
I do track days too and never any fade
Great brakes and Keri a top bloke to deal with

WMS does what it says on the box

I had 330mm discs with Bremsport 4 pot calipers on the 4.6.

I now have Tuscan 4 pots on 320mm discs.

Both good set ups, Bremsports faultless on track.

Haven't tried the Tuscan ones on track yet but can't see any reason for them not performing.

Contact Hans Daalhuisen in the Netherlands. He have different options for brake upgrades. He is now developing some new brake options with hispec monster 6 calipers with TVR inscription.

Think I`m going to sell my 887 888`s for something else ..Theses were new but old stock and OE Ford discs with two sets of pads ,Standard Delphi pads are unused and I have the Yellow tuff pads with very little wear.

887/888 cosworth conversion for me with the 283mm discs. The difference over the weedy 240mm discs is quite literally day and night. I cant fault them, they`re great, great stopping power now.

If i had bigger front wheels i might be tempted by this RS / Brembo mix though, if only for the looks

Now I like the look of those.
Feel free to post more pictures guys of your updated brake setups.
To be honest although I'd like better braking the looks of them behind the 17 inch alloys is more important to me. Vain but honest!
