There all locked up ready for the Federal RSR 595`s to be fitted 2x 215/45/17 2x 235/45/17 From Germany .

2x17" 7j 4x108 offset 25

2x17" 8j 4x108 offset 35

Even got a free set of wheel nuts and spigot rings

I would say cost less than half the price of the SP12`s.

Love the glitter silver .licklick

It was a bit of a pain the way I got them . Purchased four front wheels from fleabay then sold two of them ,then put that money towards the rears .

Just for accuracy Swanny me lad, but lets not forget this tells us 888's crack too.

Personally I'd want to avoid such tyre cracks on any car of mine.

These track day tyres are great...on the track.

But with any type of tyre always comes some compromises.

For example my Rainsports wouldn't make a great track day tyre, but as I dont do track days that bothers me not a jot.

Do the track day tyre people just drive on the track?

I doubt it nono

Preaching to the converted old boy, track day tyres are not for me and my Chim.

Pretty sure those who do use them are aware of the compromises but are happy to make them. However it's always good hear from those who have used a specific tyre and get their feedback on actual experiences.

Not necessarily.

I'm not deriding track day tyres, they certainly have their place for people that genuinely spank their TVR round a track.

For those guys choosing a track day tyre is a no-brainer.

As we approach the colder months, are all the track day tyre brigade aware of what can happen to their super sticky boots when ambient temps fall below zero?

I just worry some buy into these tyres because they are sexy, then use their car 95% on the road.

If you're spending 95% of your time on the road, you need to put 95% of you decision weighting on the importance of a good road tyre that works best in all the conditions you'll experience on the road.

Tyres are you're only contact with the road, so the way I look at it you want to know you've chosen the most suitable tyre for how you genuinely use the car.

Track day tyres are for track day warriors like Phazed, road tyres are for the remaining 95% of us that use their TVR exclusively on the road.

That's why I have two set Pro race 16" 17" setup with Falken 452` which are very good ,the 453`s are even better .I will be using the federals in the summer with a 17" front 17" rear setup .

Got the wheels for a bargain and tyres too.

Some people run federals on the road and have no problems ,they are a half way house between track and fast road.

Wot, like intermediates confused

So does this mean we've got the choice of slow road, road, fast road, intermediates, and track??? And what about rain tyres? And winter tyres?? confusedconfused

Feck it, I'll stick with the T1R's. (notice clever use of word 'stick') biggrin

This one has track tyres for the track
And road tyres for the road
Seemed obvious at the time.
Didn't know about the EU rule on one set of wheels only per car.

Wheels fitted with trackday road legal Federal RSR tyres laugh Even in damp conditions I was impressed how they grip .

Still have the near side tyre catching the arch ,The rears are 235/45/17 but are wider than the Falken 245`s I wonder if the Camber could be tweaked .What can I get away with ,I need about 2mm to clear.

Gone back to 17" on the front with 215/45/17`s which give me a larger wall height .

You might recheck your ride height first - the two fingers front (no, not driving sign language) and three fingers rear test. Your arches look suspiciously close to the tyres in those excellent pics. I found previously that a 10-15mm lift on the rears was all I needed to avoid catching tyres. Frankly, your fronts look low too. Smart definitely, low, yes.

Your rear tyre/wheel combo has about the same rolling diameter as my SP12s with 235/40 18s on. I noticed mine were catching at Snetterton yesterday on right handers when i had a passenger on board, so i will be checking mine too.

Its sitting higher than you think because of the tyre sizes . 145 front 160 rear from the corner plate .

Front tyres are 18mm larger than standard

Rear tyres are 12mm larger .

Not arguing with your measurements, but just try in daylight sticking three fingers into the gap between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch. Each finger is approx 10mm. If you don't have 30mm clearance then the chances are greater that your tyres, which are 10mm wider than standard TVR rears, will catch on bumps and compressions.
