You need this forTurbo and supercharger to run correctly?

You need an aftermarket ECU for sure, and Lloyd's seem to be the current bandwagon, but I would go for Emerald; purely because there are many more on TVRs than there are Canems, and they're more proven ECUs in general.
surely that's only because the Emerald has been around a lot longer.Does that make it better

Not necessary

Is Canems better than an Emerald?
Probably not.
I'd say neither are better or worse than each other, and you'd be very happy with either if it's fitted & mapped properly.
Whichever system you choose, you really need to consider the loom & installation too.
For the record, I'm Very happy with my Canems and the service I've had from Lloyd Specialist Developments.

Does the Canems unit support MAP sensing and have capacity for boost control?
Yes Pupp, Manifold Absolute Pressure sensing is a basic feature on all the usual suspect after market ECUs we regularly discuss here.David Hampshire who developed & markets the Canems system has his roots in forced induction.
Turbos mostly.
The Canems system was born with Turbos forefront in the mind of this very clever electronics engineer and engine management expert.
Boost pressure created by the turbo is controlled by the PWM map delivering true 3D boost control.
The Canems system uses a PWM output with 252 programmable sites which is absolutely ideal for open loop boost control.
David at Canems adopts a policy of only using quailty proven sensors that are readily available, to this end if you choose Canems you'd be using the bomb proof & ubiquitous Bosch N75J boost control solenoid.
You'll find a Bosch N75J fitted to a lot of modern turbo charged production cars, because it works and it's totally reliable.
And because it's used everywhere, it's cheap as chips too

The N75J is also sometimes branded Eaton and you'll find one under the bonnet of a VW Passat in a breakers yard near you

For an extra £530 they will take your car in, totally install the new system and fully map it so that everything runs properly - now THAT's money well spent.
Thought this was fitted,why the extra brass??Rover V8 Engine Management Kit, Installation, Set-up & Mapping - for Fuel-Injected, Naturally-aspirated Rover V8's - £2095 (inc.VAT)

Anthony i bet you are itching to loose the clock work dizzy and 14cux
Not for now Daz - car's running well enough for what I do with it. I am quick on track days, the handling is fantastic and cornering is where all the fun is. Its not a race, so an extra ten miles an hour down the straight doesn't matter to me.
With properly mapped spark and fuel, and better spark from coil packs, the car should run better. Never forget, any ECU s only as good as its mapper. I have heard 10 to 20 bhp ascribed to a better ECU.
The whole bhp and torque thing is interesting. A number of us went on a track day recently. Speed around the corners was down to suspension, tyres and grip, not power. Only speed on the straight was improved by better bhp, and even then not by as much as I expected. So much so that I have ditched my turbo or SC plans. Cornering is far more fun IMHO. And I can do that better with the car I already have by improving my driving technique. Plenty of room for improvement then!
