Heater control thingy
Discussion
Having spent all summer suffering with heat stroke as a result of the unstoppable torrent of hot air flowing into the car from all the vents, I think I may have found the problem.
All I need now is a little advice on how to fix it.
The control wheel is connected to a valve by a cable.
On mine even with the wheel as far over towards cold as it will go the valve is still about 1/4 open.
It looks to me as if the cable needs moving a little
The outer sleeve of the cable is clipped to the valve.
What I need help with is how to release the clip which holds the outer. I assume it just needs to be pried off with a small scewdriver but, (as we all know what assumption is the mother of!) can any one confirm this?

Peet, the adjustment you want is probably under the dash top. My lower heater dial came adrift from the cable, so I spent a happy couple of hours this weekend taking the top off my dash to reconnect it. There is a clamp block holding the outers of both cables, and you can loosen it and slide the outer to make the adjustment. Good news is if you just take off the two nuts on the passenger side, loosen the drivers side one, and you can lift up the dash enough to get at it. See bible for where your nuts are.
