hi all

I've gone through some of the old posts with regards to spring rates on gaz monotubes
and wanted to get some up to date feedback on suggested spring rates for general/spirited road use "no track days"
450 front and 375 rear is what i'm thinking of your advice please

I have just put 400 front and 325 rear on mine. Very pleased with the fronts but not 100% certain about the rears. I haven't played around with the damping yet though. That said, the ride and the cornering are very good!

loads of stuff here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I am 400 front, 375 rear with GGPs, and just below the adjustment centre point on the road.
GGPs have 20 clicks of adjustment. Monos have just the middle part fthat range.
So what you suggest sounds sensible

I'm here smile

I have 500 fronts and 400 rears 6 clicks up from soft on the front and 5 on the rears. Had a full geo also at time of fitting. The 500/400 combination is what came with the mono's, and although I had a choice to change this I thought I'd go with it and see how it felt. The set up is far superior to the original billies, and although the geo would have made a difference it wasn't actually miles out. It is a bit harsh on some of the roads around here (Norfolk), but the handling is now excellent and I intend to keep the 500/400's.

450/375 would I imagine be less harsh, but with the damper settings available it's easy to adjust the ride feel. 450/375 would be a good choice I'd say (although obviously never experienced a back to back comparison with the stiffer springs).

I run 450/400 which is excellent on track and sometimes feels a little soft at full chat on the right track.

Its road manners aren't bad but definitely a little harsh compared to a daily driver.

All sports cars feel very firm, my pals Z4 feels quit stiff on the standard road setting but when you press the firm damper setting it's way too stiff for the road.

I'd suggest 350/400 for only road use. This will give you a better ride then standard, (275/325 ish) firmer but still giving you reasonable comfort if touring and general use are your game.

thanks guys for all your input and advice I still want to keep that sports car feel so I think I will stay with 450 f and 375 r for road use
and know that it may be a bit hard but should be able to soften up if need be on the adjusters
i'll let you know how I get on in the next couple of months when I hope to have a set fitted
