It's been the longest MOT of any vehicle I have ever owned. Failed emissions, new stepper and lambadas it failed again. Replacement exhaust system still failed. Y piece "modified" and a re tune by Paul at AR.... and well... it passed.

Also nice new window whilst in from autoglass.

So. Questions: What do you think of the curves; power is like a ruler mark, and it's a better drive because of it. Still some shunting, but in a different place to before so I'll have to re-learn to drive around it (Which I probably did on my 1 hour spoon today) Does this look ok - it's not in the league of most toys on here, but she does accelerate, corner and brake like she's on rails.

DeCat noise will take some getting used to - far less burble and bang than I was expecting, but a deeper more meaty noise - louder too. No passenger today but I think conversation may have been compromised.

The engines races and dies faster than before, which I like - it's weird and I might be dreaming but it feels lighter as though a smaller flywheel is in her. Power feels about the same, not had a good hoon - but the delivery is impeccable - no throttle catchup on the swift 1-2-3 shifts.

Finally, I'm not entirely happy with the replacement window, the fitting is sound, but the seal is a botch, I havn't talked to them yet but I dunno if the seal is covered or not. Basically it's loose in some places and a good couple of 5mm gaps altogether. some of the silicone work is a joke too, in an attempt to fix poor rubber.

Anyhoo comments appreciated, cheers.

Glad to hear your old girl made it through in the end, I've managed to find a compassionate place local to me that is sympathetic to our type of vehicle (where emissions are concerned) within reason. Whilst I'm still a bit of a TVR novice I'm slightly surprised at how early you are getting peak HP, whether that's a trait of a 400 or not I don't know but my 450 is getting its peak HP and Torque at 5300 & 3800 respectively. I suspect you may be reading the curves/lines the wrong way round, i.e for torque read HP, but I'm only guessing.

Sorry, just realised the type on your dyno readout shows I'm quite wrong, you are reading the curves the right way round, seems a bit strange though ! more HP than Torque ???

Cheers - I'll get piccies tomorrow of the seal - very dark and cold and there might be spiders or mouses in the garage. Or spidermice.

Hah! you are right of course, I didn't mean to type 'torgue' will correct

Torque's the hump, bhp the straight line. And the right hand end of the graph is missing.
I would expect peak bhp at about 5200-5500 bhp. And about 220 bhp.

No Richard, you were right first time..
Peak Torque is about 217 ft lbs and you can see it where the bhp 220.1 is printed.
The peak 220bhp is off the right hand side of the page somewhere, at about 5500 rpm.

You have a issue somewhere

Lets get this sorted once and for all.

The Torque curve is a curved hump, with peak torque at about 3500 rpm
The Power curve rises steadily to a peak above 5000 rpm

This will be the pattern whatever the engine.

Couple of things.

Is AR, Austec Racing? have you the standard Lucas setup?

If not and you are running MS or similar you can undoubtably tune out the shunting, if not then you'll have to live with it.

Your graph, where's the right hand side?

Have you considered dance classes? The Lambada is a complex step and difficult to master.

^ hah! yeah my spelling isn't up to much! Nor is my dancing.

Here are some photos of the window seal. I guess I couldjust gum up the flappy bits with silicone.

Not as bad as in daylight I guess.

It was done whilst the car was at Austec, so I only saw it yesterday.

I was wondering if Auto glass have to use the old rubber, perhaps ? Can the seal be replaced with the glass in situe ?
