I have been thinking about what I would build if I were to start from scratch... By that I mean, if I were to buy a rotten car that needed major chassis surgery, complete mechanical overhaul, rewiring and full body restoration, and suddenly found I had say 20-30k in the car fund, what would I do with it??? OK, some would say if you've got 20-30k to spend ditch the Chim and go for a later car... Tamora? Tuscan? Cerb even.... (or T350).

But lets say, the Chim is what you want (applies equally to Griff)....

So, you have a poor example of a British icon and a big budget smile This is a car you're going to keep, so you're not bothered that the car will be worth far less (in the market place) compared to what it's going to cost to build it back to what you want...

All you need to do now is spec it up...

So what's it gonna be?

What engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres, ECU, interior, colour, how much BHP? how fast? Big torque or big BHP? worlds your oyster...

What's your ultimate Chim? (or Griff)......

Make the chassis stiffer, sure I could design a brace or something to give it more torsional rigidity. Possibly make the outriggers structural. Would improve the handling over bumpy roads.

4.5 litre rover v8 + LPG + canems ecu

New interior and respray in Rolex blue.

In reality I would go for a mint 4.3BV Precat Griff in completely standard factory condition. Colour - British Racing Green with tan leather interior. Wheels - factory BBS alloys

.... but that is not what you want to hear so if I was to modify a car to my preferred specification it would be similar to the below. I still wouldn't go too mad to be honest as I like the standard look of the cars and would stick with the rover V8 engine. Here would be my ultimate Griffmeara:

Engine - John Eales 5.2 with cross-over ITB manifold (same as Ian Rose's)
ECU - Motec M800 with datalogging enabled.
Transition - T5 with upgraded internals
Suspension - Ohlins
Wheels - Estorils
Brakes - David Gerald 295mm 4pot Alcons (fit under standard 15" wheels)
Tyres - 1 set of Toyo T1R for normal use and a set of R888 or AD08 for track
Colour - Yellow
Interior - full leather black with yellow stitching, walnut dash and yellow dials. Thick lack carpet Cerb or Tuscan seats.
Chassis - sportmotive evolution
Exhaust - decat + standard middle box. ACT tuned manifolds.
Alarm - Carl Baker Meta
ICE - Carl Baker German Maestro install with a Mcintosh MX406 headunit
Upgraded sportmotive headlights (Griff 7" or Chim Mk3)

I think Mathew has it covered, the main ingredient being the Sportmotive chassis.

If I had the chassis, sort out the seating and fit an SC I'd be there.

In reality, I'll sort out the seating, Polybush the chassis and hopefully fit SC next winter.

I know it's a grief but my pal Christian, (7TVR) LS car has had everything apart from the Sportmotive chassis thrown at it and is a top contender.

Ok so I think...

Chimaera with....

6.3 LS Engine Fully forged
Mappable ECU
Launch Control / Boost Control
2 Large Turbos
Water Injection
Twin Bosch 044's
6 Speed Gearbox
Retrim
VX220 Seats
5 Stud Conversion
Spiders
Un-breakable Driveshafts

Would like to see 1000hp on the dyno just cause it will make a nice graph for the pub but want to run 600bhp to start with on the road if I can get it that low....I think Ive gone a bit crazy hehe

Its as close to my perfect chim as I can create, I like power not Wax and Polish smile

It would have to go on Image Split Rims, try to squeeze as much rubber under there as possible.
And if going LS it has to sound dirty, something like this would be ok http://blog.powerblocktv.com/youtube-poster-claims...
