I know this is old hat, but I've just fired beastie up for the first time in a few days, after having the trickle charger on since about 10 this morning. Residing at the end of the drive were two young lads, sitting on their bmx type bikes, probably about 12 year olds I'd guess.... and after spinning the engine up for a few seconds she burst into life, and through the rear view mirror I could see both of them had huge grins
they sat there grinning, and when I got out to reel up the extension (engine still running) one of them shouted out "nice car".
I guess there's about a 50 year age gap, but it never fails to give me a warm feel good feeling when this kinda thing happens..... Maybe there is hope for today's youngsters

It does make you feel great to be driving something so different to all modern cars. The fact it would probably be illegal to produce a car these days that the driver has to control all by him self, sounds great, burns tons of fuel, spits out copious amounts of lovely greenhouse gasses, goes like stink and is getting rarer every day, makes me even more satisfied. Oh and as you said - entertains young children and adults alike as a bonus.
I find myself looking to see if the pedestrians around town have noticed the fantastic sound, especially in Asda's underground car park, and have to remind myself that what I think of as the great signature of a decatted British V8 is just a bloody racket caused by some juvenile t

t with too loud an exhaust to othersThe great thing about it for me is that these kids are the same as I was.. They saw and heard something today that they'd never experienced before... They've grown up in a world of euroboxes, where everything sounds and looks the same. Then, out of the blue, they've seen something that they've never seen before, and it sounds like something they've never heard before, and it's put a grin on their faces like no other car has... These youngsters are the PHers and Tiv owners of the future.... I can well see, in ten years time, one of these young lads saying "I was 10 or 12, and me and my mate were looking at this car, then the bloke fired it up, and it was awesome. I knew then that one day I would have to have one".....
Just makes me smile, and makes me proud to own something that isn't PC, and I can pass on to future generations
This is why the marque will never die......

A few miles before my TVR broke down this morning, the wing mirror glass fell off! While I was sorting it out I heard two elderly ladies say to each other that it was a beautiful car and they were having a good look round it. One told the other it was a Chimaera after they read the badge. It made me smile!
Pulled up at the lights alongside a Range Rover.
Driver wound down his eclectic window, listened for a few seconds, grinned at me with the roof off as usual and said "now that's a PROPER engine".
"Yes", I said, "it started life as a Range Rover engine, but it's been properly sorted".
Revved up and dropped the clutch.
He was still grinning when I looked in the mirror.
True lovers of good cars come in all shapes and sizes, and most of them love TVRs

I agree. Never have I had such positive reactions to a car as I have had to the TVR. Driver wound down his eclectic window, listened for a few seconds, grinned at me with the roof off as usual and said "now that's a PROPER engine".

 THIS!
t with too loud an exhaust to othersI'm hyper conscious that I park under my appt. in an underground car park - my girlfriend can hear from our living room when I start the car. We're on the top floor (4 stories up). I think it's magnificent. I suspect my neighbours think I'm a prat.
It was parked up at the pumps yesterday eve after (another) dose of VPower and as I glanced out at it hunkered down on the forecourt, a chap walked out of his way to take a look and had a good long look as he walked past.
Nice warm feeling inside. My friends 360 Spyder / SL55 / M3 never got the same sort of reaction. Neither did my S2K.
This warm fuzzy feeling is one of the best aspects of TVR ownership. I have had small boys jump up and down with excitement shouting 'LOOK DAD! LOOK!' as I've driven past and responded with a bootfull of throttle, naturally. Remind me of when I was ten years old and went for a ride in a relative's E-type then another relative's MGB with the roof off. Probably what set me down this path to financial ruin but automotive bliss.
Love threads like these
I took the Cerb out yesterday for its weekly tunnel blast, cue pops, bangs and flames. Had one family in a Zafira clapping and cheering and on the return trip had a guy in a white 159 giving the thummbs up.
It's nice to know that we aren't the only ones that appreciate TVRs.

I am just getting used to the attention, somthing that never happened with an XKR.
This morning pulling out of the drive and letting it warm up the BT Broadband man made comment " Is that an Aston Martin " I explained it was a TVR, his response, sounds awesome mate I thought they were all painted with that funny paint, didnt Clarkson use one of these to fool a speed camera.
Coming back from my trip later that day pulled into Watford gap for a quick break, I noticed a chap parked up looking intently at the car, strange I thought but trotted off the Costa to arrange a mortgage on a cup of tea.
Wandering back tea in hand said chap gets out of his car and approaches, my thought was immediatly oh here we go, he has obviously got a set of Knives, golf clubs or some jewelry that he can offer me a deal on, just for Christmas.
He introduces himself politly and explained " Its a Chimeara isnt it " I am considering buying one, are they really as unreliable as people say. Cue a ten minute discussion complete with bonnet up, and V8 noises in services car park. Far more interesting than dodgy golf clubs.
I am fast coming to the opinion that owning a TVR is like owning a dog, (No pun intended). I shows you must be an interesting person and therefore approachable and worthy of conversation.
I am sure some marketing gurus should be able to harness the power of this attraction for a sales technique, after all pretty girls in lycra works but they must be getting in short supply, however there seems to be an abundance of portly blokes in TVR's.
Just a thought !!!.

It is a fair point to remember;Just makes me smile, and makes me proud to own something that isn't PC, and I can pass on to future generations

We don't own our TVRs, we are nothing more than the custodians for future generations.
