Hi,

I just wanted to say thanks to a few companies that have been very helpful and forthcoming with a few upgrades I've had fitted to my Chimaera.

V8D were very helpful with pricing up and supplying the MC1 camshaft kit. ACT gave me an excellent price on the carbon superflare trumpets, induction hose kit and complete silicone hose kit, Rimmers who supplied me with the waterpump and a few other spares and TVR Powers who supplied a few gaskets and things and were very helpful with advice. And of course you guys on here and Pistonheads for all the advice. It’s my first TVR so I’m learning on the job! Apart from a coolant leak at the waterpump and a minor powersteering hose leak, there was nothing really wrong with it, but decided to take the opportunity to upgrade a few bits for my peace of mind.

Over the last couple of months it’s had:

Remove old POR 15 and repaint the bits of the chassis I can get to in epoxy mastic
Remove and repaint sump. Refit with new gasket and sealant
Remove plenum
Remove intake manifold
Remove water pump and replace with new ACT silicone hoses
Remove all coolant hoses and fit new ACT silicone hoses
Remove all power steering steering hoses and fit new Jonnyz hoses
Fit new valley gasket
Fit new injector seals
Fit new ACT thermal gasket
Fit new ACT carbon superflare trumpets
Fit new ACT induction hose kit and elbow
Calibrate the relocated Range Rover temperature gauge sender which has never been accurate
Fit new V8D MC1 camshaft and timing gear
Fit new fuel hoses
Adjust boot lid so it stays shut
Replace throttle cable
Have the rocker covers powdercoated and polished by The Wheel Specialists, Bournemouth.

Southways did a lot of the work and I’ve been really pleased with the results and the quality of work. Rich and Steve have always been very helpful and friendly and are always willing to chat about the car. They really do go the extra mile and the personal touch really matters.

Here’s the dyno:

I’m hoping now the car will be nice and reliable for a while, having replaced most of the things that wear out over time. It certainly feels quicker and very responsive and is very smooth at low revs. IT’s much easier and nicer to drive now. I’m just waiting for some dry weather to see what it’s really like!

Oh, and here’s a quick pic of the newly dressed up engine bay....

Better pictures to follow!

Cheers,

Dan
