Boot lid won't close. Keeps popping open.
Discussion
I've had this problem for a while and it needs sorting now as winter is here and I don't want a wet boot!
The boot lid either won't close, or does close, but as soon as you even touch the boot, it pops back open. I've adjusted the catch and striking pin a few times, but it doesn't seem to catch positively in any position now.
So, what's up with it? Would it be worth changing the boot catch itself? Perhaps it's worn? The solenoid and the catch seem to be working ok when I push it closed with a screw driver, but for some reason the striking pin just won't stay put!
Any help appreciated.

I get this on the Cerbera and presume they are the same locks. Using the screwdriver to check operation usually shows it to be fine but it seems the latch on the boot lid doesn't quite finalise the latch movement and then it sticks partially open.
I can't remember the set up on the Chimaera but the Cerb has a boot light behind the latch which I pop out then poke my finger in and 'adjust' the little catch to the left IIRC then it'll shut and work fine for weeks/months.
I'm guessing some fine adjustment is needed at some point.
Don't be tempted to adjust the spacing of the boot/latch too much to make it clasp as then the boot won't sit tight on the seals and it'll leak anyway.

On a similar point;
I have noticed other owners occasionally 'slamming' the boot lid or allowing it to drop to close it.
I was given very specific instructions on the dealer handover never to do this as it would eventually cause problems.
Metal screwed into fibreglass / wood type problems I assumed.
Sorry, that's no help with the specific topic, but others may wish to take note.
ETA
I suppose I should have said specifically how to close the boot lid; is with a firm push over the latch area once the boot lid is lowered gently into place.
In fact, the same way we would close the bonnet.
If I say I have never had problems with my boot lid (and I haven't), it will no doubt come back to bite me, so please note; I am not saying it

Just to confirm what Goaty has said regarding possible damage on boot slamming. My boot lid striking plate is now loose and will not shut the boot now at all. Got a spanner on the two adjusting bolts on the boot lid and found they are loose and are just spinning without coming out or tightening up, I'm fearing the worst.
