Hi all, I am thinking about replacing the original Chim seats for a more supportive and comfy seat that also reclines.
I have seen some reasonable Boxter seats that I could re-colour, but I was wondering what other peoples views are regarding MX5 seats, Porsche seats or any other seat they have fitted or wanted to fit or decided not to.
Many thanks in advance
Jamie

I bought some Boxter seats for mine. After taking the runners off they still wouldnt fit. They are too high.

Cheers Dan I did see that post, I was just wondering what other options there were for the car. smile
Were the boxter seats too high for the roof to fit on?
Does anyone know if Sierra seats fit, as the Cosworth Recaros are really comfy and supprtive

I have a sneaky suspicion that the fixed seats may be set too far back and being only very short and like to see over the dashboard I have become accustomed to sitting a little more upright than most.
Plus I have plenty of room to recline the seat, as I have it as far forward as possible and the pedals adjusted all the way out. smile

I think Phil (Bassfiend) researched the XJS seats, IIRC. Perhaps email him?

Gas sniffer (ChimpOnGas) was first to suggest the XJS Recaros and he bought a set of manually adjusted seats but not sure ow far he got with fitting them ... I have a set of electrically adjustable XJS Recaros which are narrower in the seat base as they don't have the seat back rake adjustment lever poking out and should therefore fit a bit more easily.

For me it's been another one of those projects that got delayed due to this years health issues but they're sat in the garage waiting to be done and I'm thinking of controlling the electric adjustment with an Arduino based controller ... the seats have potentiometers so I can actuually get feedback on positioning and implement some kind of memory facility! biggrin

Hi Phil, I did see the XJS Recaros, So first dibs on yours if you go in another direction please wink
Why do you need a memory function if you are the only one driving, unless you are going for a "mammary" function on the passenger seat, LOL
O/T; I hope the guys find a minor reason for your engine problem, You deserve some luck this year, and I think that may just be the beginning of it.
Take care and chat soon

The advantage for me of the XJS Recaros (if they will fit) is that they're build for lardy old Jag drivers ... biggrin

They're also pretty damn cheap - I think mine were £130 plus about £40 pallet delivery and are in fairly decent nick ... certainly a recolour (which I'd want to do anyway) would have them looking spanky! biggrin

Why would I want a memory function ... hmmm ... Why not? hehe

We know they fit Phil, I've already proved it.

Like you I just need to get busy with my Furniture Clinic dye kit and drop them in, well there's a simple little "H" frame to make up too.

TBH I got all distracted by my gas bag project so its a job for the spring now yes

Fancy running up a spare set at the same time? biggrin

I'll probably ending up using mine to sit on when I have to move house! hehe

Well there ya have it Jimbob - a pair of XJS Recaros should sort you out. biggrin

They dont have the kit car reputation of MX5 seats so dont go for exorbitant prices - there's two sets on eBay at the moment for between 120 and 150 but they dont look tidy... biggrin

Hi mate, I have seen those, but they aren't electric so they will be wider than yours.
I will find some or similar soon.
I would just like to say "Merry Christmas to all that see this, have a wonderful New Year and all the best from both Shelly and I" smilesmile

TBH I think I waited no more than a few days for some to come up on eBay and they didn't seem to be in massively short supply ... it was more a case of just choosing the best condition ones and I think the ones I have are pretty decent...

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding some.

...and may the warmth of Christmas cheer find purchase within the bosom of your own fine families this season of goodwill! biggrin
