I think I've engineered myself into a corner. I was fed up with the manky black sealant round the clutch reservoir cover - that dome thing on the driver's side of the engine bay. So I removed it and thought hmm, let's spray it silver while it's out to match the car. Then I thought hmm, it would look better if I filled over the 4 screw holes and just used the sealant to hold it in place.
Trouble is, the cover is not a perfect fit into the recess, which means that some force is needed to press it into place, or you need to fill a a gap of up to 5mm in places. So I now need a sealant that sticks like hell, can bridge 5mm gaps, is heat-proof and ideally grey or silver (but I accept I may have to put up with black).
Anyone thought up a graceful solution to this? Incidentally, I took a 20-mile round trip with the cover removed and was baked by hot air from the engine bay pouring through into the footwell! So it's more than just waterproofing, it's heatproofing as well.
So in summary, the cover is very pretty, but I can't figure out how to fix it neatly...
