I've been running that size for about 5 years, just swap at MOT time.

I gather it depends on your region and the priorities of each police force. I should imagine that fixed penalties are always a high priority for every force as they've proven an effective way of leaching money from the average motorist for relatively minor offences. rolleyes

However, the problem is, that with a small number plate, the ANPR system probably cannot read it, so GCHQ are unable to track your movements should you head into a mobile blackspot. This type of temporary data loss causes panic for the government as they're unable to sell a complete dossier of your habits and movements to large corporations for marketing purposes… hold on, there's a few blokes that have just arrived outside dressed in black, carrying MP5's… biggrin

I've run my 2/3 sized plate on the front for 7 years. Never had an issue with ANPR cameras (pulled over in a check zone twice), police (several times) or MOT. Indeed one policeman suggested my Font was clearer and easier to read than the standard one.

I guess I may have an advantage buy having a short number.

I thought people who produce plates must abide by rules, if that's so how come they sell them in the first place, I also have the small plate!!

£1000 now that's not nice.

A copper has looked at it, then me and just drove on, its down to if the copper likes you/ the car/ is or isn't a tit, had his chief constable ringing in his ears about having to make money, has his wifey upset him that day.
Bit of a mine field then!

Mine stays on because if the fines 100 quid, that's still better than an overheated engine, fk em. Sorry officer only joking!????!!

I liked the suggestion once said on here keep the plate in the boot and scuff it up abit, sorry sir its jus fell off and I'm on my way home.
Would that work!!

Yeah your right I've still got my original and sometimes thing I should put it back on. If you offer it up after the small one it does seem far to big!
Mot, I'll leave the small one on and take the large also but it passed last year with small plate!
