then?My early car has the "adjustable" speedo - so there may have been different toothed wheels fitted mine sits in front of the GKN diff. Never adjusted it since checking against GPS it was surprisingly accurate. Didnt bother to count the teeth as I knew the speedo had an adjuster.
I did give the wheel a lick of hammerite whilst the diff was out, still works fine.

They are adjustable at the speedo head, I know. I didn't want the bother of ripping the dash to bits to get to it. Anyway it's FIXED now! Tried a different toothed wheel and it's (almost) cock-on now. See other thread.
Thats keen, must admit I'd rather pop the dash off, than drop the exhaust (and ARB) then prop shaft.
I was just speculating that it was possible that different toothed wheels were fitted (& possibly senders) then 'tuned' to the speedo at the factory or later, so cars might have different teeth arrangements.
Still think its cool that if tyres/wheels are changed its possible to recalibrate the speedo by twiddling the pot - the early cars do have some plus points.
