Hi all,

I have a problem with my Chim. When I stop the car and turn off the engine with the key the ignition light/ignition will not turn off!

This has just happened today and I am putting the problem down to a lot of rain and water getting into the car. As I am at home for Christmas the car is outside and not in it's usual garage.

I've now disconnected the battery and will attempt to dry things out in the morning. Has this happened to anyone before or would anyone be aware of a solution?

Thanks

Quick update:

Problem solved. Some water ingress to the passenger footwell during bad weather. Cleaned out, dried out and now back to normal.

My friend has that exact same issue when he changed to a new alternator. He found that after he turned the ignition off if he pressed the brake pedal the ignition light would then extinguish. Very odd. He never did get to the bottom of why this is the case and has lived with it ever since. If anyone knows what the solution is I'm sure he would be interested to know.

We even tried putting his new alternator on my car and it behaved normally. Most bizarre!

Sometimes the simple solutions are the ones that work. All I did was mop the water from the footwell with a towel and dried out with a hair dryer (definitely a good buy wink )
