Hi, I'm a newbie on here and looking for a new toy after doing air-cooled VWs of all sorts and with 190BHP engines etc. My dad used to have a 3000M which was kinda fun but a Chim is the car that I want and covers all my wants for a new toy, so..

Can anyone help me with the maximum width of a Chim with the wing mirrors folded in please?

I know the Chimaera width question has been asked loads and it's 1865mm but that is with the wing mirrors out. Getting down the driveway is my 'tight' spot and not the garage as that's due for replacement smile

cheers
andy

Can't help with the actual dimensions but folding the mirrors isn't to be recommended as they are pretty fragile and a bh to fix when they go floppy.

I can't see folding the mirrors in gaining you more a centimeter, they don't exactly fold flat and the mounting point isn't the widest part of the car. Take a run up and hope for the best, that normally works when I'm trying to fit my lorry into a tight gap biggrin

Right just measured mine up, from its out position to tucked in position you lose 70mm per mirror. So 140mm narrower.
Hope this helps

I did a fair bit of research on this myself because space is tight. 1865mm wide including the mirrors is the figure that was returned the most. I'm not sure folding the mirrors would gain you that much, and how would you see to reverse it with them in?

58mm more than an MGTF but 95mm less than a Vauxhall Omega and 75mm less than a Porsche Boxster (986) if you want a 'sort of' comparison (all with mirrors out).

Thanks folks.

The magic number was to get to ~1.8m or less as a max width (and still have a nice amount of comfort room) and now know that folding the mirrors in will do the trick.

Getting up the driveway is easy forwards and fortunate enough that I'll have room to turn around so having them folded in isn't too much of a concern.

Time to get the hunt properly focussed on a Chim, stop chasing 911s, and re-read my dad's copy of the Steve Heath bible smile

Ian's figure of 1865mm including mirrors is the quoted width in the owners handbook.
