Mine has decided to have a bit of a leak from the back plate
Having not had much to do with these things I have 3 questions
1, is there any thing I need to know before removing the back plate
2 , is there a gasket to buy or is it a make your own job
3, if it's a make your own job, is it some gasket jollop or a paper 'Blue Peter'job
Thanks gents Peter

I'd use RTV silicone as it is pretty much resistant to most oils. I got some recently on the Bay.

A couple of photos I took when doing this recently.

The rear plate has 8 bolts and also locates over 2 dowels, plus the drain plug.

This is the best photo I have of the plate removed. Just some some sealant around the face after giving it a clean, pretty simple really.

This is all assembled back up. The 2 dowels are at 12 o'clock and about half past 5. Then there are 2 bolts at the top, 2 at the bottom with the drain plug in the middle and 2 on each side.

If your thinking of dropping it out of the chassis (and I really wouldn't have wanted to try this with it still in the car) then of course the prop will have to be disconnected along with the front mounting plates and drive shafts. Plus the rear mounting bracket that attaches to the bush via 4 bolts

You can see the prop bolts and top mounting plate bolts here. There are another 2 plate mounting bolts on the underneath, one on each side.

Rear mounting bracket

Hope some of that helps smile
