how much paint required for chassis
Discussion
I used 2 of the 946ml tins of the coloured Hardnose Paint for my chassis. The standard rust preventative paint does spread on quite a bit thinner and runs out a lot more. Pretty sure you'd get away with the one tin.
For comparison, I painted with the rust preventative paint:
Front ARB clamps/brackets
Rear ARB clamps/brackets
Rear ARB mounting plates
Front ARB
Rear ARB
Diff
All Diff tags and labels
All 3 diff mounting brackets/plates
Drive shafts
CV boot holders
Gear stick assembly
Gear change remote
Engine cross member
Alternator mounting
Engine lifting bracket
Exhaust hanger and rear exhaust plate (not sure yet if this was a good idea)
Front and Rear hubs
Steering shaft (small one in the wheel arch between the 2 UJs)
Windscreen washer bottle bracket
Ther are probably a couple of other thingsa s well that i can't remember at the moment. All the above received 3 coats and I only used about 1/4 of one of the small 473ml tins.
Most people seem to recommend the pack of smaller tins though as its not the easiest stuff to keep once opened and think you'd end up with much less loss this way.
