alarm fob woes
Discussion
I'm assuming those instructions are along the following lines. Might as well make the knowledge more public! The procedure only works if you already have a working fob in your possession, so the information is of no use to thieves.
If you have one working fob and one not working, it could be that the non-working one has become unpaired. This can happen if you take the car to a garage and they need to disconnect the battery - the key you gave them will come back working (because they re-paired it when they reconnected the battery) but your spare no longer works.
Take the working fob, and unlock and re-lock the car about eight times. Eventually, the car will stop responding - it has gone into pairing mode. Quickly grab the non-working fob and press its button. The hazard lights will flash. For good measure, press the button on the working fob as well. Then wait for a few seconds. The hazard lights will flash again, and the car may unlock itself. It is now back to normal, and hopefully both fobs will be working.
This procedure saves you having to grovel around disconnecting the battery again.
ETA: Probably a good idea to do this whole procedure with the roof off, just in case it all goes tits-up and you end up with no working fobs.

OP you don't say whether you have a Foxguard or META alarm. If the former I have 2 working, and now redundant, Foxguard remote fobs if you are interested. They can, I understand, be easily paired to your system although you will need to get that info from someone like Bridgwater Electronics or maybe someone on here with 'the knowledge'!!
Anyway PM me if you're interested.

If its a meta you can buy a new fob and program it yourself. My new one came with full instructions. Do you still have the red alarm code card i recall needing it for some reason. I can ping you the sellers link when i get back home monday if that helps
ETA Change of plans so I was able to get the link today, I bought this one http://abacuscaralarms.co.uk/alarmshop/index.php?a... . They have several flavours of fob, some built into keys so take a look at the site. This is for the Meta alarm.

if it's just the case why not by a old one from ebay and change your working internals into the new case, no need to do any reprogramming.
i brought a couple of meta fobs from ebay for a couple of £, for taking measurements and mock-up with the plan to design/make a all in one key, which i still need to get round to doing.

A 93 car will probably have a Foxguard on it if it is still original, (two buttons and one LED on remote). As said above can easily be synced/added on, each alarm unit can sync with up to four remotes at any one time.
