Hi guys
Just coming to the end of a bit of refurb on the suspension and have come across a bit of an odd one. Seem to have a 5mm gap between the rear top wishbone and the upright even with the thrust washers fitted.

Don't seem to have any bits left over in the box and can't remember seeing anything. Anyone got any ideas?

There seems to have been a few suspension overhauls going on over the winter, so am sure someone will know.
Cheers Pete

What bushes have you used?

Yes the bushes are standard OE with new nylon thrust washers. I was surprised at the size of the gap and wondered whether there were supposed to be any packing washers to adjust the camber?? All other joints are tight so my guess is thrust washers were missing??

The wishbones bend at the centre brace.

Once you bolt the wishbone into the chassis, that joint will close up.

You can't gauge it off the chassis.

Phazed, I have the wishbone installed on the other side and it has a similar gap , I will see if it pulls in when I tighten it up. If it all looks ok will leave it, if not guess I will use a couple of washers. Cheers guys..

IMHO you need to put in washers the OD of the TVR thrust washer and the ID of the bolt with the same thickness as OE,. using these as your 2 inner camber adjuster washers to stop the upright punching over thrust and the standard washers (which it will in a couple of months use).

Adrian, yes think you are right..pulling in the 5mm gap is also distorting the wishbone....I will fit some washers. Cheers Pete

I fitted washers in mine as the bolt was distorting the holes by pulling through them. I also made new square washers that fit on the outside to try and apply an even pressure.

Yes, seem to have the same issue with distortion, square washers on the outside is a good solution together with washers on the inside. At least a washer gives more of a contact surface on the bush than the slotted wishbone. Cheers Pete
