Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations for replacement bulbs for the speedo to bring it up to a similar brightness to the other gauges?
I seem to remember seeing a thread about using led replacements.

Cheers

I'm in the process of rebuilding my dash...... And have discovered there are 2 or 3 different fittings, so firstly you need to establish what yours are....

I suspect they'll be a bayonet fitting and will take this type..... Obviously you'll want clear if you want brightness

There is also this type, (clear) but you may have to open out the bulb recess in the back of the clock slightly as the head of the bulb is wider than the base...

Converting to led is well worth doing though....the standard bulbs are only small but they don't half get hot.... Heat = battery power...
Also they're a lot brighter..smile

On my '97 500 all the small gauges and clock were small bayonet bulbs (BA9).

The speedo and tacho we're push fit 501 type bulbs.

This varies considerably from car to car so check before you buy any new bulbs.

The speedo unit has one bulb holder the tacho two.
I bought some bright 501 white led bulbs and put one in each. They are now equally bright.

I also bought a pre wired led and taped it into the hole for the clock because I couldn't find a led bulb small enough.
