Hi Guys first post newbie

Chimaera 500 1996, purchased with aftermarket wheels so just purchased a new set of SP12 alloys, now need tyres
Front 7J, 17" tyres 215/40/17, Rear 8J 245/35/18, anyway cant seem to find any company that manufacture both sizes
Toyo T1R cannot get rears, Toyo T1S cannot get the fronts. Could I go front 215/45/17 rear 245/40/18 or maybe 215/40/17 and 245/40/18, or a mix of T1R front and T1S rears

Please help

Cheers
Steve

I bought some SP12 wheels recentlyand fitted Continental Sport Contact 3's . They have an asymmetric tread and look pretty good. I just need to have my car back to fit them!

245/35 x 18 is already 0.31% more in circumference than my standard 245/45 x 16. If you go to 245/40 x 18, the difference jumps out to 4.47%.

+1 for these fitted last July 2500mile Germany/Austria incl a couple of laps of the Nurburgring and they performed really well.

Rain performance was good too but haven't been out much since the winter has set in.

My SP12s have 215/45/17 fronts and 235/40/18 rears. Gives the correct lower front end, with the front tyres 21mm smaller diameter than the rears. They are however both slightly bigger than the standards, which are 205/55/15 front and 225/50/16 rear, or on later cars 225/45/16 front and 245/45/16 rear, which two sets are approximately the same rolling diameter as each other and about 15mm smaller than the sizes i first mentioned. PM me if you want a chat.

Your choices are far greater if you have adjustable dampers or newer Bilstiens, so that you can easily adjust the ride height.

I'm running Conti Sport Contact 3's in those sizes (215/40/17 and 245/35/18) and they are very good.
I also have them on my current daily driver and previous M3 so probably done 75k+ miles on them - recommended!
