Evening all,

Back from some time away from work and went to check on the car. It has been sat still in my garage for almost 2 months and is totally dead (as I should have expected I guess). I left it with the alarm off. The button under the wing mirror isn't working and the key fob isn't doing anything either.

How do I get into the car? I've done some searches on the internet and there seems to be an answer but it isn't published (for obvious reasons I suppose!). Could anyone who has had to do this send me a message and let me know what to do?

Also, how easy is it to remove the battery to put it on charge? Is it a real struggle to get it out from the footwell?

Any problems once the battery has been re-installed?

Thanks in advance for any help - hopefully I can get the car back working soon!

Cheers, Olly

I just charged my battery in situ, as I'm hopeless with the spanners and couldn't be arsed to get it out, which all worked out just fine. smile

Thanks to everyone who replied - all the messages said the same thing so I'm guessing it works!

I will have a go tomorrow and look forward to being able to get back into the car.

I'll post an update when everything is sorted.

Thanks again, much appreciated!

I'm kinda expecting this to happen to me at some stage too... never been more than a week without a drive until this fortnight just gone frown and I can't find the trickle charger...

Would somebody be kind enough to do me the honours also ?

I didn't think that cutting out the back window with a Stanley knife and climbing through head first was a secret scratchchin

Sadly, based upon my experiences as a long term MG owner, that is how most thieves will break in.
Then failing to actually steal the car, (face it, they have already shown how stupid they are), they leave you with a wet, heavily scuffed interior and the need for a new roof.

The only difference is; with the TVR 9/10s of them would have to climb back out the way they came in because they wouldn't know how to open the doors from the inside.

Knock on wood (sound of knuckles on one's own skull), no one has ever touched my TVR, even with the roof off and the back window section down.

Quick thread update!

I managed to get into the car (thanks to all those who messaged!) and spent part of today removing the battery. It wasn't as difficult to get out as I first thought, probably because the previous owner hadn't bolted it back in properly.
The battery is now on charge, just waiting to get it back in place hopefully tomorrow.
On a side note, it was a proper mess of wires down there - I'm assuming they are all like this?

Cheers, Olly

Even though they were made in Blackpool, not Birmingham, every car comes with its own Spaghetti Junction...... Various relays and the 80 amp fuse (not the 100 amp fuse, that's underneath the other side of the car) are in that tangle.....
