Would you?
Seems I may achieve the CR required for a FI build with the use of copper head gaskets, using 'o' rings etc to achieve seal. Question is, would you? ears

i have been using copper gaskets on my race 4.5 engine for 5 years never a problem, old school.you can reuse them over again no probs.I had my cylinder heads welded up last year because of tooo much BHP inducing plastic industry additive in the fuel . The engineering company who did the work tried for several weeks to persuade me to dump the rings and copper for compersite gaskets which they thought were much better, wasted there time i'm affraid. thumbup

Err no, I went copper and ringed and didn't seal, might be ok on some applications , but in the end went for cometic gasket, far better smile I speak from experience

Hang on there will be someone that says hey copper was good for me ...... Well not when it costs you money..

Just under 0.5. Whilst some rave about the merits of metal to metal [copper] gaskets, others say don't go near them confused

You have two people with fi telling you which way to go, I went copper originally with ringed heads and they leaked. Cometic gaskets were not available then, ..... Just go cometic , why make it hard for yourself.

Mac, why not just keep the heads standard and use the compression plates as Neal did?

Has anyone had galvanic corrosion issues with copper gaskets? They are not metals I'd normally want to mate together...

No nothing and that was after 20yrs. Using Elring composites now tho and as Simon says they are 1.2mm thick.
