Fitting new Carpets.

Hello all,
I went for the woollen carpet set from Coverdale, £235 + delivery.
My carpets were smelling bad after they were beyond rotten almost missing in places.
Anyhow after tearing little sections out, and working out just about all but three squares of carpet go, I was wondering if any one else has fitted them. I bought heavy duty spray adhesive, but was wondering if its best to use impact type glue as it looks pretty hard to get round some of the profiles.
What I should do is lay all the sections out flat on my drive and take a picture of all the sections I have so you guys can see what you get for the money. I thing so far that they seem pretty good.
Some of the rear section is laid up different, from how mine came out, and I seem to have lost the nice pouch at the rear seats, but these may be the funny square sections with an inch trim on them.
Any help of the best way of gluing up would be useful

The advert say's "all" the carpet is included so I'm sure they will send them if requested.
On the subject of fitting. I saw a programe a while back where a guy was building a kit car. He used spray adesive to fit the carpet to the fiber glass shell.
If in doubt ask Coverdale what they recommend.
When you have finished doing yours you can come round and do mine

My new carpets have been sitting in the lounge for a couple of weeks. I'm waiting for someone else to do theirs first
I can't do mine in the garage so will have to wait until I can either borrow somewhere to get the car under cover and warm or summer arrives.
I also got the impact adhesive but thought I'd use something slower setting for the tricky bits that will need sliding around.

Those Square cubby box things threw me as the piping has been stitched wrong. I am not bothered as I know if I tell them they will re-cut these, as they are pretty helpful.
Anyhow the worst parts of the job so far are tearing out the old stuff, its hard work. I used pliers to grip the little sections that tore. First job is to take the roof off. Then take the steering wheel off, and the belts out.
The belt bolts can be quite rusty, along with the hood bolts, so soak them all well in releasing oil. (WD40). The centre console will need lifting up slightly, so undo the two screws under the rear flap and the front sides. Once all the carpet is out, then hoover and brush any loose bits out.
Fitting it quite easy, I ended up using spray glue, and it's worked well. Take your time as theres no point in rushing it goes together easier than you think. It certainly smells a damn sight better already. I will post the finished results later.

Mine's the same: The buttons don't have a keyhole, enabling/disabling the alarm with the keyfob locks/unlocks the doors. Having the buttons with no keyhole is half way between having keyholes and having the buttons on the bottom of the mirror housing.

They look a million times better - just look inside a T350, Tuscan, or Tamora!

At what point in the carpet fitting procedings will I be needing the drill?
Secondly, as the labrador clearly now has experience of this procedure is he/she available to lend me a paw?

I did mine yesterday and all went well, i do have a couple of questions though.
Firstly, the rear vertical piece of carpet, where the speakers go, how did you manage to get the carpet to fit the shape of the car? I havent done that bit yet but when i offered it up it didn't want to fit very easily.
Secondly, the three silver allen bolts that go through the hood, carpet and car to secure the hood on, these will not retighten, are there supposed to be nuts on the back of these screws or are they supposed to tighten themselves?

You will have to buy some new nuts and washers as the old ones would of fallen behind the fuel tank.

Hi Mark,
I guess from your name you have the 450 which I assume is the post facelift shape...
Mine's the same and I've been putting off getting the new carpets since I'd heared the passenger footwell isn't quite the same on the post '97 cars... The Coverdale carpets templates are (or were...) apparently taken from a '93 model...
I was going to make templates of the passenger footwell when I got around to it and send them off with the order... but if your's is a 97 post facelift model and everything fits, can you let me know and I'll get mine ordered pronto!!!
