Shocks that is...

So the Bilstiens have lasted 10 years, and many track days.

I've had.

Gaz £1000
Gaz Gold £1600
Nitron £1600
Intrax £2100

and Ohlins £2800 suggested.

Other option is refurb the Bilstiens.

or Refurb the Bilstiens and revalve and go for Tuscan S springs on the rear as well.

What has anyone else done, any reccomendations.

How difficult are the springs/shocks to remove?

Cheers in advance.

Do you track your car or not?

I don't so I fitted Protechs. Really please with them and got a good deal by phoning the company direct.

Best of luck.

@A900ss Used to, not recently :-(

Mainly the issue of tracking small people about.

Got older, just refused to buy a grown ups car :-)

I did look at the race ones, but the " and after 2 years they need a service" put me off a bit...

If it's just for road use, save your money, buy Pro-Techs and reserve half a day and fit them yourself.

What are they £500-600.00?

A900ss, where from?

To be clear, that's new shocks (with their new bushes) matched springs - fitted and checked?

Very keen to understand where from, as that's cheaper than getting the bilsteins refurbed and me fitting them!

1.25 hours a corner, is what I'm being quoted.

That's to remove/replace.

I could do it quicker than that! And I'm just some bloke with a spanner and a jack! I fitted and adjusted Nitron ProRace coilovers to my brother's VX220 the other and it took about 4 hours for me to fit and adjust them. I should think a garage would do them quicker.

Where are you based?

£1,600 is way over the top.

As a comparison, give Mat a Ring.

http://www.matsmithsportscars.com/contact/

Working backwards, £1,600.00 less VAT = £1,333.00, less £500 for GGs = £833.00 labour, divide by 4 = £208.00 per corner. labour only @ £60.00 per hour = 3.47 hours per corner jester

They can be a bit awkward to remove when old but a professional with all the tools shouldn't take more then half an hour a corner.

Just my tuppence worth............

If you ask me at £1600 someone is getting rather greedy!!

I paid a £600 fitted price for my Gaz Gold Pros, I had a tour of the factory & watched my set go through final assembly & dyno testing before being bolted on my car & dialed in.

No full geo at this price but I did get a good deal at "Wheels in Motion" as Derek from "Absolute Shocks" has a little arrangement with them.

All I did was watch the work at the Gaz factory in Essex & drink tea, Oh and pass over £600 to Derek.

That was over three years ago now and my Gaz Gold Pros are still working great, from word go they were a massive improvement on my original 30,000 mile Bilsteins which although low mileage were clearly well past their best.

Gaz suspension has had a pasting on here, but for me the Gaz Gold Pros have worked out very well indeed, they dont squeak and do seem to last, however I did find they need to bed in for a couple of thousand miles.

But in my experience all new springs need a bedding in period, that's just a fact of life and no real negative reflection on the Gaz Gold Pros, the problem is it takes a lot longer on a TVR because they are such light cars.

After the slightly pogo bedding in period which completely diapered at around 2,500 miles it became clear to me the £150 per corner fitted price I paid was excellent value for money.

So its a thumbup for Gaz Gold Pros from me smile

Out of interest, what's the difference between the Gaz Gold and the Gaz Gold Pro? I don't know which model I have!

thumbup Nice bloke, think his name was Julian, if he sold more bits that I wanted I would have ended up with an empty wallet.
