My 98 450 is going in for a sump gasket at a mates garage, it's due for an oil and filter change at the same time and as my mate doesn't normally work on TVR's I thought I'd ask on here if anyone has a part number for the oil filter, car currently has a fram filter on it but without jacking it up I doubt I'll easily see the number.

Specialists / dealers seem to want silly money for what I'm sure is just a standard filter.

Thanks and advance for the advice.

Excuse my ignorance but what's a sandwich plate and what's its purpose?

Alun, it's a device used to keep your sarnies handily clustered together in one place.

Alternatively I think it's a plate which is sandwhiched between filter and pump to allow a take-off for an oil cooler. One of these anyhoo. smile

Do all the cars have that take off point and why do you have oil in the pipe and not just a signal ?

My filter (on a wedge) sits "upside down" so must drain everytime the engine stops?
Or if not it must dump a filte full of oil down the inner wing.
Need to do my first change soon, believe there's an art to it....

Yes Daz, all have them.

I didn't need the electrical connection as it was mechanical.

So there must be a plug in it at the moment ,what size thread reducer do I need and is an electric signal good enough for oil temperature? or is it a resistance .
