Gone and bought one!
Discussion
The chim below came up on Autotrader yesterday morning so I got straight over there to see it. It is absolutely stunning throughout, 31k on it, mega history, brand new roof and some nice leven bits and an alloy rad / silicone hoses etc. Owner has owned it for 5 years, garaged and dry use throughout, the previous owner had it for around 5 years to I believe (anybody from here???)
Left a deposit after a thorough look over it all and a good old test drive, plus I am meeting him tomorrow afternoon to fully inspect the underside on a ramp - which looked spot on from what I could see from the floor, thoroughly protected etc.
Not sure when I will collect, either this weekend or next once the funds are cleared, but boy am I excited!

Very nice. 400 or 450?
Enjoy it and take it easy ( especially in the wet) until you get used to it.
it's a 400, would have loved a 450 or 500 but budget as always dictates and this was the one on condition etc for me.Enjoy it and take it easy ( especially in the wet) until you get used to it.

New MoT and 6 months tax. Battery charger in boot is handy, and I like the green carpets too:

Does it have power steering? Can't quite make out if there's a fluid reservoir from the pics.

that's the one mate, yes it does have power steering, if you look at the first pic of the enging bay you can just make it out in the top right of the image.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

Stunning - green chim rears are the best!
You will adore the starmist green in the sun! - http://www.wastedspace.co.uk/cms/wp-content/upload...
Take it easy and check the fluids as soon as you can, especially the clutch fluid!

Fantastic, and a lovely colour, really suits the Chim IMHO.
Before you get totally carried away, may I suggest three things:
1. On the ramp inspection this afternoon, the key areas are the outriggers. That's the tube sections that stick out from the central core of the car between the front and rear wheel arches, and support the body and the passenger areas. Where they tend to go first is on the sections that go from the centre of the car to the sides, just near the corners by the wheel arches, and they go ON TOP, not underneath, where the water and mud tends to collect. If you have the time, go to the PH forums and in the search facility type "Chimaera outriggers" and read the threads, looking for pics so that you can see where they rot.
2. Money and ownership. If you have any doubts, rather than give the guy a cheque and wait for it to clear, why not try calling your bank and telling them exactly how much you are going to pay and when, and ask them to note it on your account. Then use internet banking on the guy's own computer to make the transfer. Be aware, the bloody banks are in the habit of sitting on the transfer if it is large and not to someone you pay regularly. He can check his account and with any luck it should be there. If not, then if the vendor sees that you a) had cleared funds in the account, b) made the payment to his own account details and the screen says "Confirmed", and c) the money has left your account, it should be ok.
Otherwise, take your ID down to the bank and just get the cash out.
3. And check all the docs if you haven't already, and invest £3 in a MyCarCheck.com search now. You have the reg. I did one for a friend of mine, and saved it on the computer, and when she came to sell the car to a dealer a year later and was told that there was outstanding finance on the car from the previous owner, we were able to present the search results to the dealer and he was able to complete the deal
