Went to take car out of garage at weekend after a few months and battery dead, fitted a new one today and started first time but unless foot on accelerator it just dies. Being a mechanical numpty is their anything obvious and easy I can look at?

Stuck it up on axle stands with plan to clear away all old waxoyl to see what lurking under all looking pretty solid so far :-)

Stepper motor seized maybe? Split bypass hose? (The one that runs around the plenum)

Stepper motor clean is default answer. Check plenum is clean and induction. Also check vacuum advance tubing.

Have you added fresh fuel ? If the stuff in there has been sitting for a dew months it might not be too healthy.

As you've replaced the battery you have effectively performed an ECU reset - you will need to get it running up to temp fans cutting in/out etc for the ecu to re-learn.

Take it for a little hoon and this should sort it (assuming no mechanical issues like stepper motor or split hoses etc)

Thanks all - was thinking it may be ECU issue but will also pull the stepper and give it a clean.

Good news is chassis is actually looking good now the waxoyl is coming off the powder coat is intact apart from outriggers but they do seem pretty solid with only some surface rust smile
