It's buckled! Hit a big pot hole in a puddle and it somehow buckled my rear wheel!

A local alloy wheel place can repair it for about £70. It is otherwise mint, no scratches or kerbing. But should I look at replacing it? Anyone got a standard Chim 400 rear wheel spare? Must be in very good condition.

There are quite a few Imolas around so you should pick up a replacement easily. I brought a set of Imolas snd one oft he rears was bent and buckled. Luckily a fellow owner sent me to a company in High Wycombe who could repair it. Was around £120.

If it's a major buckle that can be repaired, it will look straight afterwards but will always be weaker than a 'normal' wheel.

What's a replacement wheel cost? If not much more, I'd be inclined to get a secondhand one.

Good luck.

My worry is, how do I know if the secondhand wheel is straight? I don't want to waste my money and end up with two buckled wheels!

Alloy Magic in Poole are supposedly the very best at sorting buckled wheels and charge £55 plus VAT.

As one of my old teachers used to say…

"if you have to ask the question, you know the answer"

Bin it before it gives out at 70mph.

Its a no-brainer - this is the link between you, the tyre and the road.
