That will effect how it runs, possible arcing and weak spark.

No idea what that pipe is though, too dark to get my brain working.

A length of clear plastic hose (as used by air pumps on fish tanks) will replace this nicely.

Damn, I must get a proper one for mine, this may count as a modification scratchchin

It shouldnt make any difference. In theory you may loose a few mpg on cruise due to lack of advance. There are people that run without it, intentionally.

If you do away with it make sure the plenum is blanked off.

Running without it is a fools game. You can do it on a race engine because you are always flat out, and never cruising at a light load when vacuum has the biggest affect on MPG and this is typically the situation most TVRS are in most of the time (as in big engine- light body, low engine load). Another 8 or 10 degrees advance under light load improves the engine efficiency without any down sides.

Same here. My vacuum diaphragm was cracked. I was able to suck and blow air through it. New vac unit from Clev Trev made no significant difference to discernible performance. I don't know about fuel economy!

Who would have thought, such a minor bit of pipe, could have such an effect on the running!!!
