Hi chaps

What I am doing wrong here. Surely the below can't be correct. The female union is on just more than finger tight so it isn't really going on any much further.

Nothing appears wrong from the photo.
Did you flare the pipes yourself?
In that situation you should have what is known as a double flare.
The first flare is made with the tool then the conical point of the tool is used to form the second flare.

Provided you have a double flare then all is good.

Google 'brake pipe flare types' to see what they look like.

Hi Steve

Yes I flared them myself and did double flares as per the below pic.



It just seemed strange to me that there was, what appeared to be, a large amount of thread still showing from the braided hose end. If its all ok then great. Thanks for confirming thumbup

Yeah that looks OK to me too. The male part of the coupling is quite a bit longer than the female part so you'll always have a portion of exposed thread on the male part.
