Ok, haven't done anything to the engine yet but this weekend i've got to change the fuel lines so i'll be taking plenum off, plus i'm getting the exhausts done so may as well go a bit further.
I've not worked on one of these yet, although i'm looking forward to it.

When I bought the car years ago the bloke said it had some wildcat heads, which I don't think it does after looking around online, there are no markings/stampings from the outside and it seems to run a bit too smooth and civilised. So, what should I be looking out for to see if there has been any work done? Would it just be a case of measuring everything? trumpets, intake manifold port sizes etc? Anything else visually to get some sort of idea exactly what has (if much) been done.

Secondly, anything worth doing maintenance wise at this stage? Is the Valley gasket just possible to check from looking at it?. If nothing has been done i'll be going carbon trumpets in the future but for the time being i just want it running and reliable

If your car is one im thinking of. I think it was Noel Flannery who did the engine work, he used to post on PH but I cant remember his user name

From memory the heads will be stamped on the rear end nearest the bulkhead if they are wildcat heads. You cant normally see any ID marks as the heads are tight up against the bulkhead and are often covered in oil/dust etc.

Ok, so no receipts for engine modification that I can see.
But there are loads from Neol and he sounds like a funny guy, I've not seen a receipt like this before

Think you would have non-standard exhaust manifolds (maybe inlet too? ) as I believe ports in different places on wildcat heads? Someone will correct me if I'm wrong... ;-)
