Ooo am I right in saying I can bash out my precats with not needing to purchase anything what so ever?? biggrin

I'd say you'd need a pair of 8-bolt flange gaskets (manifold-Y-piece)... oh and something to bash the precats out with. wink

Mr. spend may well be along shortly to correct me, but pre-cat removal on later cars doesn't require anything special, and I think the earlier cars / manifolds are the same in that respect?

However, the general wisdom is don't bash, but have them cut and re-welded. Much less opportunity for your engine to ingest some unwanted remains of your pre-cats, and provides an opportunity to strengthen the welds in the 4 into 1 collector area.

Well i'm similar to top gear JC - I have many hammers....

Some very long drills going up to say 5/8 inch.....drill into centre in a few places, open up to largest size....then a pry bar with a twisting action to make the centre collapse.....should eventually all fall out.

Clean and refit.

Done.;)
