I'm recommissioning the 430 after the winter layup, i've got her running (needed to prime the oil pump via the dizzy hole) but I have a couple of things I would like some help with if possible. The MOT is due in April and the windscreen washer pump doesn't, how do you get to it? via the front grill? and does anybody know how or where I can get the windscreen rubber surroud replaced as the current one is very badly fitted (wrinkly and looks awfull) where it goes around the side of the screen. I'm assuming if I order a replacement it will just be a straight length of rubber rather than shaped?

Try this man regarding for your screen seal glassman.
There is also a man in Surrey, but I don't know his contact details.
It is not a job for the enthusiast.

Via the front grill, but the diagonal struts really impede access... I cut them out & replaced with screw in strips (made wing access 100 times better & more air to rad).

Basically to remove, pull out filler tube (press fit), reach in and lift up washer bottle whilst wiggling in/out (across car IYSWIM) then try and manipulate out past wiring... May be easier to gently unclip wiring & grease connectors whilst you are at it.

It should be possible to reach in and unclip the washer electrical connector first. Check this has + & - with your multimeter before arm wrestling in the wing, and if OK try reconnecting to see if it was just a bad connection.

After that you may be able to pop out the pump ~ it just pushes in with a rubber seal (pull up HARD whilst wiggling).

One of these YMMV things where if you cant do in-situ straight away, it's probably less frustrating to remove the whole unit and service it on the bench.

thanks for that chaps. I will give Glassman a call. Just been to "Halfwits" and bought a new timing light as mine has given up the ghost (Gunson Advance) not bad (for them) at £44.
