Do any of you know what the threaded stud diameter is and the distance between each threaded stud is on the engine mounts?

May seem like a strange question but whilst trying to set my idle speed I heard a knocking which turned out to be the driver's side manifold against the frame and I need to machine a thick spacer. I know these are available to purchase from certain TVR specialists but I need they aren't going to be able to deliver here to Germany on time and quite frankly why pay those prices for a bit of drilled steel!

Okay, so a bit of background info:
The engine mounts are 3 (ish) years old. I had a workshop replace them when I first purchased the chimp as the manifold was resting on the chassis. I then swapped the engine out for a 5l lump at the end of last year and found that I only had one spacer (and stupidly couldn't remember which side it was fitted). Anyway, after much consideration I guessed this must be a typical TVR strangness that only one spacer was needed and so put it on the side that looked to have the least manifold/chassis clearance. It seems the engine must really have one on both sides so I guess I lost one.

As always, thanks for any help.
Stewart.

I can definitely confirm the thread takes an M10 x 1.5 pitch nut (so should be 10mm thread diameter). No idea on the distance between threads I'm afraid and the engine is now back in my chassis so can't really check.

The spacer also goes on the off-side (although being in Germany thats probably the near-side for you).

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks Kris,

my chimp is an original RHD motor so thanks for the tip. If the engine does indeed only require one spacer...and it should be on the off-side, then thats cool. I mounted it on the near-side (passenger side) so I should be okay just swapping it over then. Still seems strange to only have one spacer though.

Thanks for the tip.

Its a legend but apparently the Malaysian chassis were specced wrong, the spacer should be on the right hand side.
Mines a late car with said chassis and its on the right hand side, and no spacer on the left.
Its 45mm between hole centres on mount

Excellent. so 45mm spacing between M10 holes. I'll machine an extra one just in case I need it once the car is in the air. It won't do any harm to mount one each side just in case anyway will it?? Surely not.

Don`t forget to fit the engine mount restraints ,they will lengthen the life of the mounts .
