okay, so it seems my throttle pot voltage is measuring 3.5 - 4.5 depending upon how I position the sensor. As I open the throttle, the voltage drops down to 0. Would I be correct in guessing that the throttle pot is bolted on backwards?

My idle speed won't drop below 1400RPM and I believe this is probably the reason. Just thought I'd ask first though before faffing again.

Cheers

Dont know how you would bolt it on backwards- are you sure you are measuring across the correct wires? On will go from near zero to to over 4volts and the other the opposite way with reference to the ground wire.

Hi. Its the different throttle pot that comes with ACTs twin/triple plenum kits. It can be bolted to the throttle body with either side facing outwards. I've definitely measured the correct wires according to the color-code info on the ACT and Mark Adams web pages (red/black and red plain).

so... Its been months now off and on and I still can't enjoy my tiv. I'm getting properly pissed with the whole thing. Finally got around to buying a cable and getting rover gauge up and running (which entailed solving some virtual player USB problem issues as I only use Mac). Heeeenyways. That tells me the AFM is defective.

WHAT!!! I haven't driven the damn thing more than 100km yet! So, I double check that I wired in the Bosch AFM correctly by checking each wire is giving me the correct readings (i.e. #2=12V, #3=ground, #4=5V and #5= flickers between .5 and .8 (i think). Before I go and spend another €200+ on another new bosch AFM, do any of you know if a different problem is likely to show a cose #12 on the fault reader?

Alternatively does anyone want to buy a Chimp that doesn't work (only joking...but I'm nearing that frame of mind).

If you can't find one to borrow buy one and keep it and the box immaculate, just return it if it doesn't fix the problem. It's not like it's a moving part, just don't get greasy fingers on it or scratch it whilst fitting biggrin

As a simple test, remove the AFM, and then put some air through it with a hair drier and watch the RoverGauge readings (ignition on) and you should get a significant change in AFM reading on the absolute range. It might cause the ECU to error as its not a normal situation to have airflow at 0 RPM, so you may have to do an ECU reset afterwards.
