Yes you can get them repaired but it can take weeks if not months to get it back, slight exaggeration there!??!
Its not so easy to replace them as there are various spec speedo's used.
It might be the speed sensor that's not registering so a few checks before deciding its a speedo fault first.
Test drive? Are you thinking of joining the Tvr family. Get a good one and you won't regret it, get a cheapie and expect to work on it! That statement sounds drastic but its the same for any car!

Was the odometer still recording mileage? Did you notice.?
If both not working it could be the speed sensor next to the diff, or the wiring from there to the speedo.

Bloody sounds like mine was! Late 2000 car 450 with 40,000 miles and two owners,,,,,, just the wrong owners. These things if there not wrapped in cotton and fettled and really loved fall apart in no time.
Get a good one and there lots of fun to work on but if you have loads of issues it can grind you down,, if its a project hurry and get one, we need blokes who care to buy them or loads will be shot through soon enough.
I have a thread running ( what's this I see!) check out a 2000 chassis!
My problem was I didn't know a Chim from a Griff, or anything else I should have known about Tvr's, I'm sure you know your stuff and keep that check list close to heart and live by it, I've not really enjoyed my car, its spent most the time in pieces!
Soon enough I'll have got it all sorted and the sence of achievement when driving will be immense and more personal.

Could be the transducer.
Cause mine to stop working.
Quick fix, though about £90 to buy.
That said, could be out of adjustment, broken wire, disconnected or dirty connection at the transducer...

Yes check. Replaced mine. A pig of a job. Need small hands, good light, long handled 9/16 spanner. Had to split lock nut with chisel in vice. Flew through MOT yesterday.
