Hi

Can you get a decent battery from Halfords (for '99 Chim 4.0)? Have looked on their web site, but not much useful information there.

Thanks
Jeremy

Personally I favour a decent Motor Factors rather than Halfwits. Battery number is 072.

Thanks. I see the Bible says 072, but then Offord and others recommend either 069 or 089. Does anyone know the difference and which is best?

You can buy a decent battery from Halfords. Doesn't matter where you buy it from so long its the right one for the right car.

I can recommend the Varta type 096 (reverse), worked great for me. Was mo more costly than generic stuff, got it from:

A proper 096 is longer than an 072 though

I bought mine from Halfords earlier this year - no probs. It wasn't particularly cheap, but I had tried an auto-factors, but they tried selling me one with lower than recomended cold cranking amps saying it was the right one for the car, so I walked away...settled for Halfords as I didn't want to spend a whole day trudging around looking for a 'bargain'.

Thanks everyone. E-tyres have fitted one at my house for 70 odd quid, which seems reasonable.

Up and running again
