Pads and discs on my 98 450 need changing, I measured them at 260mm diameter 24mm thick with the centre boss 30mm proud of the braking surface making them 54mm tall.

Do these look like the right discs?

Also can anybody advice what the pads are from?

Thanks in advance.

Nigel.

As with the discs, I believe the pads are Ford Sierra 2.9 / XR4i.

There are two types of 260mm disc, the difference is the height. I 'think' one is 53mm and one is 58mm. Make sure you get the right ones.

I just got basic mintex pads when I did my brakes, no grooves or drilling, just standard venting. I uprated the pads though.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I've ordered the parts from EBC having heard some questionable reports on the pagid discs I was looking at, £130 all in for front pads and discs posted, didnt sound too bad.

Are there any strange sized allen keys that I might need, helped a mate change pads on a ford Ka the other week and needed a 7mm which apparently arent a standard in most allen key sets?

Not sure on a TVR but that is correct for Ford - at least stuff in the last 10-15 years - which uses 7mm for the caliper release bolts.

Bit of a late response but thought someone might be interested in how the ebay sourced discs work out. I have just taken delivery of a pair of the 260 mm discs mentioned above at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400587395620?ssPageName=... Very good price however as we all know getting stuff from eBay can sometimes be a bit hit and miss but I'm pleased to say they look fit for purpose and came in original Pagid packaging and importantly height of the discs match the ones I am replacing. There is one detail difference in that my old ones have a 3 mm deep x 8mm wide chamfer machined on the inside track of the disk and the new hasn't. I don't think this has any practical consequence. Also the old discs are drilled with 8 stud holes (I assume for providing the option for 4 or 5 stud arrangements) whereas the new ones are dedicated 4 stud.
