I have been adjusting my faired in headlamps recently and have been wondering how they were fixed in position, now I know!

I came back from a test drive, (that's another storey) and found the offside light had fallen into the wing.

The only thing holding it was a bit of clear silicon and a neat bead of Sikaflex around the faired in part!

Surely there must be a proper bracket?

What's holding yours in?

Where you have a bead of silicone I have lots of silkaflex/Tiger seal. It was wedged in place for over a day to cure and so far no issues after two years.

Yup, silkaflex won't budge once it's set, the hard part is getting the buggers out. Prep it properly and give it time to cure and it'll stay put.

Mine fell out twice too despite leaving it a few days to cure and having wedged it in correctly the whole drying time. The lamp is simply too heavy without an additional bracket.

TVR Germany told me to fabricate a bracket so that's what I've done. Had no problems since. The bracket is bolted to the back of the lamp/pod and then screwed to the inner-wing using the same bolt that holds the inspection cap in place. Similar to the pics here:

Just relying on Silkaflex/Tigerseal alone to bond that lump in place is just plain ridiculous confused at least the Griff has a little metal bracket at the rear although often insecure rolleyes honestly I sometimes wonder with TVR scratchchin

Thats a little unfair.... its only insecure if you dont get the pod hooked into the catch at the front properly before clamping up at the rear (which can be tricky if they've put too much sealant at the front & its getting in the way) IIRC.

Set both lights in with Sikaflex, left it overnight wedged up.

Made up 2 simple ally brackets to take the weight and applied a final Sikaflex seal externally.

Looks much more secure than just the sikaflex. Is that duct tape or similar to seal the gaps between the lamp unit and the housing? I was wondering how to stop condensation under the Perspex.

The clear cover is sealed to the pod with clear silicon and the edges that you see are sealed with a self adhesive tape.

Have you totaly seal the glass lense to the pod?, or have you left a slight gap to let out any condensation.

They look like they are totally sealed.

The previous owner had them fitted.
