Can I smell burning plastic??
Discussion
Well I've just finished sorting out the electrics (this time!, fully intend to move the fuse box but I'll do that at the same time as putting in new carpets and heat matting).
Thought I'd just show you guys what I found in the fuse box....
My Chimaera has two relays for the cooling fans, and has been fitted (not by me) with a fan override switch (basically just earths the relay on the same side as the otter switch).
10/10 for fitting the over ride switch, really useful for getting a head start on the cooling when all the red lights come on in front on the M25..
BUT
0/10 for this bit of wiring...
The second relay was changed to one with 5 pins (has both NO and NC pins, an additional 87a connector) BUT the fuse box has only 4 holes, so.... make up 4 bits of wire with crimp connectors and dangle the relay on a cable tie off the heater pipe.
Wouldn't have been that bad apart from using 8 amp cable.
The insulation and the surface of the fuse box had started to melt..

I simply cut the 5th pin off and stuffed it back int'hole.
No real harm done but that could have started a fire, just where you can't get to it, or cooked the engine...
